Eucalyptus Village I

Eucalyptus Village is a 124 unit affordable community in Kern County. A product of the Kern County Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funded by HUD; the development aims to stabilize a community by redeveloping a foreclosed upon development. The approximate 12 acre site had sat for years as a vacant, blighted, partially built and foreclosed upon condo development until Corporation for Better Housing was able to work with Kern County to purchase the development out of foreclosure and begin the work of revitalizing the neighborhood.
Eucalyptus Village I consists of 64 units located in five buildings comprising of 32 two-bedroom units and 32 two-bedroom units. Each apartment in the development will be constructed with the following amenities: range, oven, frost-free refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, central heating and air conditioning, granite countertops, vertical blinds, carpeting, coat closet and CAT5 wiring. All of the apartments are designed for energy efficiency and include energy star rated appliances.
Common amenities include: central laundry facilities, a perimeter fence, gated entry, community room with common kitchen, computer room with high-speed internet connection, tot-lots, bbq and picnic areas and on-site management. The apartments will exceed Title 24 requirements and will achieve Green Building Communities accreditation. Additionally, internet service will be provided free-of-charge for a period of 10 years.
Construction commenced in December of 2011 and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2012.
